Legislation:

  • October 2022: Japanese companies are encouraged to start using an electronic invoicing software that supports Peppol (voluntarily).
  • 31 March 2023: Japanese companies intending to issue electronic invoices must be registered with the National Tax Agency.
  • October 2023: Launch of the Japanese e-invoicing system. Japanese companies are required to use an electronic invoicing software that supports Peppol (mandate).
