Meet Dolf Kars: Driving Innovation And Global Interoperability
As global e-invoicing continues evolving, interoperability and industry collaboration are becoming increasingly important for businesses operating internationally. For Storecove Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer Dolf Kars, helping shape that future has been a driving force throughout his entire career.
With more than 25 years of experience in software development and entrepreneurship, Dolf has spent decades building scalable technology companies. Storecove is his fourth company, where he now focuses on sales across the UK, US, Spain, and Germany while also leading business development initiatives and helping guide Storecove’s long-term growth strategy.
Building Solutions That Solve Real Problems
When asked what he enjoys most about working at Storecove, Dolf points to innovation.
For him, one of the most rewarding parts of the job is discovering new and practical ways to solve problems for businesses navigating increasingly complex compliance environments. He enjoys taking ideas and transforming them into scalable working models that genuinely make life easier for customers.
That problem-solving mindset has helped shape Storecove’s approach to interoperability, compliance automation, and global invoice exchange infrastructure.
Helping Shape Industry Standards
Throughout his career, Dolf has been heavily involved in helping mature and standardize the global e-invoicing industry.
One of the projects he is especially proud of is his work with the DBNAlliance, where he currently serves as Chairman. For Dolf, establishing industry standards is critical because it creates trust and stability within the market. Once businesses understand that a framework is scalable and reliable, companies become much more willing to invest in long-term digital transformation initiatives.
He believes those standards are a major reason the industry continues accelerating globally today.
Staying Ahead Through Innovation
When asked to describe Storecove in three words Dolf said,
I would describe Storecove as innovative, flexible, and a market leader.
For Dolf, innovation means creating practical solutions that can scale globally. Flexibility reflects Storecove’s ability to move quickly as a lean organization without the heavy structure often found in much larger companies. And market leader reflects Storecove’s position as an early mover within the interoperability and e-invoicing space.
He believes timing plays a major role in building successful infrastructure companies. Dolf shared an example of another organization that attempted to build a competing solution in six months but ultimately required more than three years to complete the project. For him, that demonstrates how difficult it is to replicate years of technical development and industry expertise once a company has already established itself within the market.
A Vision Beyond E-Invoicing Alone
Looking ahead, Dolf sees long-term consolidation as a major part of Storecove’s future.
Rather than viewing e-invoicing as a standalone process, he believes the industry will continue to move toward broader integration among invoice exchange, tax reporting, compliance automation, and tax filing. As the market matures, Dolf sees opportunities for deeper partnerships, acquisitions, and expanded interoperability between financial systems globally.
A Collaborative Culture Without Hierarchy
While Storecove continues growing internationally, Dolf says one of the most rewarding aspects of building the company has been maintaining its collaborative internal culture.
Storecove operates with very little hierarchy, allowing employees to work closely together and openly contribute ideas regardless of department or title. According to Dolf, that structure creates an environment where everything is discussable, and people genuinely feel they can make a difference inside the company.
That culture has become one of the defining characteristics of Storecove as the team continues expanding globally.
Why Partnerships Matter
Partnerships and collaboration remain central to Storecove’s growth strategy.
Because Storecove works closely with ERP systems, financial software providers, and system integrators, Dolf believes one of the company’s biggest responsibilities is helping partners better understand the evolving e-invoicing landscape.
As mandates continue expanding internationally, Storecove works to simplify compliance complexity so partners and customers can focus more on scaling their businesses rather than constantly adapting to changing technical requirements.
Explaining Storecove In One Sentence
When asked to explain Storecove in one sentence, Dolf compares the platform to sending a WhatsApp message.
“Connecting financial systems globally on a data level.”
For him, the underlying infrastructure should feel invisible to the user. Businesses should simply be able to exchange invoices globally without having to consider the networks, service providers, or compliance layers operating behind the scenes.
Outside The Office
Outside of Storecove, Dolf is also a father of two sons, ages 17 and 20, and recently opened a new beach restaurant.
When asked which role at Storecove he would swap into for a day, he pointed to Nikkie Bakker. Dolf shared that he enjoys seeing her continue to grow in her role while taking on new opportunities that combine marketing and sales responsibilities as Storecove continues to expand internationally.
Looking Ahead
As global interoperability continues to grow in importance within the e-invoicing space, Dolf remains focused on helping to shape the future of connected financial systems.
Through innovation, collaboration, and industry leadership, he continues helping position Storecove at the center of the evolving global compliance landscape.
